Q: What is worse than spending time and energy on a project and having to start all over?
A: Not having done background work to know obstacles in advance.
Q: What is worse than having to prove ownership rights over an opportunist?
A: Not having sought to register rights beforehand, to have presumption of ownership.
Planning must always include intellectual property considerations, such as consequences related to patents, trademarks and copyrights. While there can be a patent, trademark and copyright for the same thing, choosing which will provide the most coverage with the least amount of expense is challenging. The world e-market makes it easy for an opportunist to claim your rights in or to anywhere in the world. Proper planning must include actions that discourage opportunists including those looking to go after you as an infringer.
